TAIF: Al-Muwayah municipality, about 200 km northeast of Taif, conducted inspections during the past two days on a number of commercial shops located on the Riyadh-Makkah highway.
The inspections were part of a crackdown on the sale of unhygienic food. During the campaign, the municipal officials managed to confiscate a large number of consumables that had passed their expiry dates.
Salem Al-Mutairi, head of Al-Muwayah municipality, said that the campaign is part of the municipality’s effort to stop the sale of expired food that is mostly found in shops located on highways.
“We visited a number of shops, cafeterias and eateries to make sure that they met the standard of human consumption. We made sure that workers were carrying health certificate and that the establishments were meeting health standards.”
