Saudi clubs post wins

JEDDAH: Saud clubs Al-Noor and Al-Ahli made a winning start yesterday to their campaign in the Asian Handball Club Championship 2009 at the General Presidency of Youth Welfare sport hall here.

Al-Noor defeated Al-Salt of Jordan 35-24 in a Group D opening match.

In a very strong match in Group C, host club Ahli edged out Al-Saad of Lebanon 28-26 .

In the first match in Group B, Foolaz Moobarkaa of Iran suffered a 29-27 defeat at the hands of Qatar’s Al-Ahli.

Action continues today with four matches taking place. In the second match of Group D, Al-Fehaheel of Kuwait plays against Al-Salt.

Al-Ahli of Qatar takes on Al-Sdaqa of Lebanon in Group B match, Al-Najram of Bahrain is expected to have a tough time against Jeddah-based Ahli squad in Group C, while and Al-Sadd of Qatar battles Al-Jaish of Iraq in a Group A match.

In the opening Group A match, Qadisia of Kuwait defeated Sadd of Qatar 27-25
