DUBAI: The Planet Group is making rapid strides with major expansion plans. The credit goes to its visionary owner Georges Moussa who with his insight and resourcefulness has made the group stand tall with confidence. Today, the group is well positioned in the UAE with offices in the Middle East, Europe, CIS and Far East.
The roots go back to 1989, when the company began as Planet Travel, Tours and Cargo. With its first steps in travel and tourism, Planet marked many milestones, including its firsts in cargo and logistics in the UAE.
Slowly but steadily, Planet Travel, Tours and Cargo diversified into many business entities in the UAE with offices overseas. In the UAE, the company boasts a well-established chain of companies, each complementing the other and supporting the aspirations of its visionary.
One of the major strengths of the company has been its long history as general sales agent (GSA) to several airlines. “We carry a history of expertise in aircraft fuelling, handling, catering and complete airport operations throughout the UAE,” says Moussa. “We are currently handling a total of over 2,000 flights, as well as airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Sharjah,” he added.
“Our latest win as a GSA bidder is Wataniya Airways in the UAE, a carrier from Kuwait,” he added.
While Planet’s travel division has been on a growth spree, it has gathered its entities under one umbrella — Planet Group. Today, the group comprises many offshoots. In its hospitality wing, Planet boasts three hotels the oldest being Galaxy Plaza, followed by its award-winning property — Arabian Courtyard Hotel and Spa.
“We are currently present in all the major markets in the Middle East, Central Asia, China and Europe. Each one of them has its own unique strengths,” Moussa said.
“Today, with increasing travel agendas from our office in Beirut, Global Holidays is well-equipped with a full-fledged set up, strategically located in Dora and Hamra. Global Holidays is part of the Planet Group and a leading travel adviser in Beirut holding general sales agreements with Gulliver travel Associates and other GCC airlines,” Moussa said.
