NEW DELHI: Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf was in a relaxed mood yesterday.
Soon after his arrival on Friday, Musharraf said: “I am feeling very relaxed. Very good.” Asked what was his plan in Delhi, he said: “I will prefer going to restaurants, see Jama Masjid and other historic places. I will have a more relaxed time. I want to go to restaurants, see people and move among common people.”
“It’s strictly a private visit. There is no meeting planned with anyone in the government,” sources said on the nature of Musharraf’s visit.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also taking part in the conclave organized here by the India Today news magazine, highlighted the need to rebuild the relationship between his state and rest of India. “I want to rebuild the relationship between Kashmir and rest of India,” he said. Tourism, which has been virtually ignored for the past two decades, needs a major boost for the purpose. “I want all of you to come to Srinagar, Gulmarg or Sonmarg, hire a hut for a month and stay,” he said.
Expressing Jammu and Kashmir government’s readiness to attract investment in different sectors, , Abdullah said: “I am not going to ask anyone to invest in my state. What I am doing is asking the industrialists to visit the state, see the opportunities there and decide on their own.”
