RIYADH: The executive committee of the Arab Media Forum has selected Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG) as the leading integrated media organization in the Arab world.

The company will be honored during the sixth conference of the forum to be held in Kuwait under the auspices of Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, from April 5 to 7.

Maadhi Abdullah Al-Khamees, secretary-general of the Arab Media Forum, highlighted SRMG’s pioneering role in promoting Arab thought using all possible means as well as its efforts to combat cultural aggression. “The SRMG and other media organizations have acted as a strong barrier in the face of this cultural aggression that influenced everybody, and affected our religion and heritage,” said an official statement.

Since its establishment in 1972, the group has been playing a vital role to protect Arab minds from the currents of deviation and vulgarity, the statement said. SRMG’s publications have succeeded in reaching out to readers all over the world.

They also mobilize global support for Arab causes and increase public’s knowledge about Arab culture and civilization. Above all, the publications are an important source of information and are recognized for their comprehensiveness and variety.

The SRMG publishes a number of daily newspapers, including Asharq Al-Awsat, Arab News, Al-Eqtisadiah and Arriyadiyah. It also publishes a number of periodicals, such as Sayidaty, Bassim, Urdu Magazine, Arrajol, Al-Jameela and Hia.

The London-based Asharq Al-Awsat, the forum said, was one of the major channels that carry news and views concerning Arabs living in foreign countries. The selection of the group as the leading Arab media organization by the forum is an honor for Asharq Al-Awsat on its 30th anniversary.

“During the last 30 years, Asharq Al-Awsat has been an effective source of news and information for Arabs. It has highlighted the issues of Arabs living in exile,” the statement said.

“It has been a strong Arab voice that reverberated all over the world and it deserves an important place in the world of journalism,” it said.

SRMG Chairman Prince Faisal bin Salman thanked the Arab Media Forum for its positive gesture in selecting the group as the leading media organization in the Arab world.

Prince Faisal expressed his compliments and best wishes to the forum and its participants and wished them every success in their efforts to improve the Arab media.
