RIYADH: InterContinental Riyadh Hotel and Banque Saudi Fransi jointly announced the staging next month of the 30th BSF Desert Classic Tennis Tournament. To run for a whole month the tournament will start on April 2 at the InterContinental courts.
There will be a mouth-watering exhibition match on opening day as well as for the entire run of the tournament, which is expected to attract some of the biggest names in the city’s tennis community.
Saudi tennis star Fahd Saad was the winner in the centerpiece Open championship last year.
The tournament enjoys the support of Jean Marion, managing director of Banque Saudi Fransi, and Mounir Melliti, recreation manager of Intercontinental Riyadh Hotel, as well as InterCon GM Nassir Al Dossari.
Overall Chairman Edwin Ignacio said this year’s tournament promises to be exciting and competitive.
Tournament registration is on for Open, B, and C, singles and doubles and for kids Under 12 and Under 16 singles only. Prizes have been scaled down to the fourth place in this SR 50,000 event.
The last entry day for the submission of entries will be on March 26. Banque Saudi Fransi is the major sponsor with Air France – KLM and Racquet Shop as co-sponsors.
