Hilal scores double in Madinah

JEDDAH: In Week 10 in the Saudi Basketball Federation Al Jawal League Al-Hilal showed its strength in Madinah. The team moved into the third position by beating Ansar 77-69 and Ohud 87-85 in succession on their home court.

Hilal’s success started when import player point guard Kevin Sowell settled in. Kevin has been leading all scorers in the league hitting over 30 points a game, and he easily grabs over 10 rebounds and racks up 8 to 10 assists a game.

Kevin also makes 3 or 4 steals and 2 or 3 blocks a game. The way Kevin is running Hilal watch out for them in the playoffs.

With only three games left in the season Hilal will fight for second place not being able to overtake Al-Ittihad. Ansar faces Ohud, Al-Ahli, and Ittihad in their last three games. One loss could knock them to third place.

Ittihad beat Qadisia 100-72 and Nahda 108-89. Ittihad’s president Mohammad Jamal Abu Emara came out to support the team and sat on the bench with the players.

Ahli beat Nahda 94-84. Nahda playing with only one import player hung in there. Import Demitrius Coleman kept Nahda in the game hitting 27 points and tallying 10 assists. Ahli’s imports Sherman Brittingham had 22 and Kevin Francis 25, Salman Khamis finished with 21. Next Ahli beat Qadisia 83-57.

Rounding up the the week, Wehdah beat Khalij 77-64, Masera beat Safa 79 -75 and Khalij 100- 80, Safa beat Wehda 75 -71, Ohud overcame Fath 91 — 82, and Ansar edged out Fath 92- 91.
