MAKKAH: An 18-member Pakistani delegation of rice exporters, headed by Rice Exports Association Chairman Abdur Rahim Janoo, met Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Aadil Kaaki in the holy city on Wednesday.

Pakistan excels in rice production, however its exporters should take steps to compete and recapture the Saudi market,” Kaaki said. “Islam binds us in the bonds of fraternity and brotherhood and it is our duty to help each other,” he added. Saudi buyers will not compromise on quality and the Pakistan exporters should maintain the quality and standard required here, he added. He said he had accepted the invitation to visit Pakistan, but would lead a delegation there after the chamber’s elections.

Janoo said he had been tasked to lead seven delegations abroad for the promotion of trade and he chose to tour the Kingdom first.

He said Pakistan had set up 22 more modern mills for processing sela rice and the delegation hoped to strike deals for the new variety.
