RIYADH: Water supplies in Jeddah will considerably increase with pumping of water from the Shuaiba-3 desalination plant, said an official from the National Water Company (NWC), which is responsible for water and sewage services in Jeddah and Riyadh.

“Speedy preparations are under way to pump water from the Shuaiba-3 desalination plant with the construction of storage tanks and the laying of pipelines,” Al-Madinah newspaper quoted Abdullah Al-Assaf, director of NWC’s Jeddah office, as saying.

Al-Assaf said the sewage system would be improved when the booster pumping station project for the Al-Matar 1 treatment plant is completed.

“Leaks were located and old supply lines, valves and pumps have been replaced. Support lines have been laid in several places besides repairing old booster stations,” Al-Assaf said.
