RIYADH: Despite the global economic meltdown, Mobily has been enhancing its manpower in the Kingdom, observed Humoud Al-Ghobaini, head of Corporate Communications of Mobily at a press conference held at the Marriott Hotel here yesterday.
The press briefing was held to announce the signing of a SR435 million contract with Motorola to expand its GSM network in the northern and southern parts of the Kingdom. The expansion will benefit areas such as Tabuk, Yanbu, Taif, Khamis Mushayt and Al-Qassim.
“We started operations with 1,000 people and now we have nearly 4,000 with us. We hope to increase the number as we improve our services,” said Al-Ghobaini. He pointed out that the communications industry is the only unaffected sector in the current global financial crisis. Mobily has 84 percent Saudi staff and they are being trained from time to time as per requirements.
Speaking about the contract, he said it was the fifth major turnkey GSM network expansion that Mobily has undertaken with Motorola in the past four years. “The demand for reliable communications services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is growing all over the country and the Mobily expansion project of our GSM network will help meet the demands and expectations of new subscribers,” said Ghobaini.
“Our relationship with Motorola and other international companies began in 2004 and we have achieved tremendous success in making Mobily the most trusted mobile service provider in the Kingdom.”
