ETIHAD

The Australian Embassy assisted by Etihad Airways raised almost SR100,000 to help the victims of the recent Australian bushfires. Collected funds will be delivered to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Fund to assist individuals and communities affected by the bushfires. An independent panel of community leaders is overseeing the fund’s distribution. Etihad announced its month long campaign to collect funds at a gala dinner held at the Australian Embassy in February. Australians and locals helped this initiative by donating cash to the embassy. To give people further incentive, Etihad donated a roundtrip ticket to Sydney, which was then given away at the dinner. Hossam Alasiri, Etihad’s GM for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, said: “The fires had a devastating effect on the Australian people. As a corporate citizen, Etihad wanted to support relief efforts and alleviate the suffering of victims by providing an opportunity for funds to be raised. With the help of the Australian Embassy we were able to do just that.”
