MUMBAI: A violent mob of angry 200 Shiv Sena workers on Monday midnight launched an attack on the residence of Anjali Waghmare, the lawyer appointed by a Special Court Judge M.I. Tahilyani earlier in the day to defend the lone surviving alleged Mumbai terror attacker Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab.
The police cane-charged to disperse the violent mob. The police also arrested nine Sena workers including a municipal councilor.
According to senior police inspector B.V. Worlikar of the Worli police station, the accused were rounded up immediately after they pelted stones and ransacked Waghmare’s house in suburb of Worli in central Mumbai in the early hours of yesterday.
Reacting strongly to the incident, Special Public Prosecutor Ujwal Nikam speaking to the media yesterday afternoon, deplored the attack and warned that the attack was deplorable and would affect the proceedings of the case.
