RIYADH: Rosewood Cricket Club (A) defeated Jarir Bookstore in the final and emerged champion at the GAMA-SMH six-a-side cricket tournament held at the Sports Medicine Complex in Nasseriyah district last week.
The tourney, organized by GAMA-SMH Cricket Club for the fifth consecutive year, attracted 16 teams from the capital .
The other two teams to reach the semi finals were Friends Cricket Club and Al Hada Water Company.
Batting first in the final matc, Jarir Bookstore scored 49 runs for 1 wicket in 5 overs. Imran Gavanji 23 not out and Ameer 11 not out scored for Jarir Bookstore.
Wicket taker for Rosewood (A) was Fawzer taking 1 wicket for 4 runs. In reply, Rosewood Cricket Club (A) scored 50 runs for 3 wickets in 5 overs. Vijay Sri topped the score with 25 runs and Suresh 12 runs not out.
Vijay Sri from Rosewood Cricket Club (A) swept the awards for Man of the Series, Man of the Match (Final) and Best Bowler .The Best Batsman award went to Imran Gavanji of Jarir Bookstore.
For winning the Man of the Series plum Vijay was awarded a roundtrip air ticket to Colombo courtesy of Roshan Pillai, general manager, Al Mousim Travel and Tours Company Ltd.
Chief guest for the occasion, Chucrallah Zard, administrator of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports Medicine Hospital, distributed the trophies and awards to the winners.
