DHAHRAN: WE Power 2009, a major water and power conference and exhibition will be held at the Dhahran International Exhibitions Center from June 7-10.

The event is led by the Ministry of Water and Electricity, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Water and Electricity Company, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

“Now in its fifth year, WE Power has built a strong reputation as the platform where policy makers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners from the water and power industry meet and discuss,” the organizers said yesterday.

This year, with the addition of a strategic conference, WE Power is likely to exceed quality expectations as the most prestigious names in the industry have lined up to speak at the conference including Loay Al-Musallam, CEO of National Water Company, Paddy Padmanathan, president and CEO of ACWAPOWER, and Omar H. Al-Madhi, energy sector director general and economic city manager at Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). “It’s a privilege for us to welcome CEOs of the best known companies in the industry to the conference and it confirms how important WE Power is for the water and power sectors of Saudi Arabia,” Mark Stamford, the conference producer, said.

“Together with a record number of exhibitors and sponsors, WE Power has definitely built a reputation as the best water and power event in Saudi Arabia.”

This is an exceptional year for WE Power with the exhibition currently 80 percent sold and eight sponsors confirmed.

Among others, NTCC, International Aramoon, Future Pipe and Marafiq are the main sponsors of WE Power 2009. NTCC, as platinum sponsor, will be hosting a dinner reception and through its participation at WE Power it is significantly raising its profile and establishing itself as a key player in the industry, he added.

Too long, the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia has been neglected by water and power professionals and this is a big paradox considering the level of investment in place in the area as well as the vital industries operating from there.
