JEDDAH: Police have arrested a man who allegedly killed a young boy and his father inside a supermarket in Riyadh’s Al-Seli area a week ago.
Maj. Sami Al-Shuwairek, spokesman for Riyadh police, said the man first strangled to death the boy inside the supermarket and then hid his body. “When the father, who was waiting outside, ventured inside to look for his son, the killer bludgeoned him to death with a heavy metal object,” he said. “The man, who worked at the supermarket, then hid the father’s body next to that of his son and fled the area,” he added.
“The killer tried to evade the police and hardly left the places where he was hiding. He was repeatedly changing hide-outs to avoid arrest,” said Al-Shuwairek.
The police spokesman added that investigations have shown that the man was in some dispute with the father and killed the boy in retaliation. He was arrested in Riyadh’s Al-Wazaraat area following a massive manhunt.
