JEDDAH: Al-Ittihad and Ohud face off today in the final of the Top Eight Basketball Championship at the Prince Abddullah Al Faisal Sports Complex here.

Gametime is 6 p.m. with Ittihad looking to add the championship trophy in the short elite eight tournament to its victory in the Al Jawal-Saudi Basketball Federation League.

Though both teams split their head-to-head matches during the season the odds are in favor of Ittihad by virtue of its deeper bench. Ittihad has seven good players while Ohud relies mainly on its five starters.

Al-Hilal defeated Al-Ahli 84-71 in the knockout game for third place last night. Hilal dominated the game from start to finish with Gabriel Hughes top-scoring with 35 points. Ahmad Samantha added 17 points.

Jamal Coachman was the top man for Ahli with 33 points.

Monday night, Ittihad Club was awarded the championship trophy for winning the Jawal-SBF League. Prince Talal bin Badr, president of SBF, was on hand to award the medals and trophy to third-place Ansar, second-place Hilal and first-place Ittihad.

Ittihad President Mohammad Jamal Abu Emara was present to accept the award and greet the Ittihad fans and players. Ittihad won the league with 21 wins and only one loss, followed by Hilal and Ansar, which both had 17 wins and 5 losses.
