MANAMA: Liquidity is easing in the Middle East region with a steady improvement. The Middle East region will bounce back faster than the West, as its financial systems are fundamentally strong and its proven economic models entrepreneurial in outlook even as the region’s oil and gas exports fuel liquidity, a senior banker at HSBC Middle East said yesterday.

“Our strategy is to increase the share of the Middle East region in the bank’s global business. We decided it would be prudent to bolster the capital base in the current environment. We continue to be the strongest and are well placed in the region for commercial banking,” said Keith Bradley, regional head of Commercial Banking at HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd. Bradley was speaking at a press conference in Manama yesterday.
