DAMMAM: The Safety and Security Department at the Eastern Province municipality was able to reunite 923 lost children with their parents during last week’s school vacation.
Mayor Daifullah Al-Otaibi praised the department for its work, and for providing safety and security to holidaymakers. The 923 children were reported lost in parks or on seashore.
Hussain Al-Baloushi, director of public relations at the municipality, warned parents against leaving their children unguarded when out on picnics or shopping. He said such neglect often happens during school holidays.
The official said 761 children were reported missing during the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha holidays last year. He said increased patrol along the beach helped reduce the number of children getting lost.
