AL-AMMAR: Police in Al-Ammar, 100 km south of Buraidah in Qassim province, rescued two Saudis from the Nufud desert on Friday, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.

The two men in their 30s became stuck in the sand with no food or water and had to abandon their car and search for a mobile signal. Police started to search for the men after they were reported missing. They were found dehydrated and taken to hospital.

Police warned people against taking desert routes without adequate water, a dependable vehicle and a familiarity of the landscape.
