TAIF: A pregnant Saudi woman died at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Taif on Tuesday while undergoing a Caesarean section.
The Health Affairs Department in Taif said the woman came to the hospital after going into early labor. The woman had failed to seek medical help since the beginning of her pregnancy.
Staff at the hospital found the baby’s pulse weak and inconsistent, and took a decision to deliver the baby via Caesarean section.
The woman was taken to an operating room where nurses discovered she had trouble breathing. The woman then went unconscious. Doctors tried in vain to revive her heart for one hour.
According to the medical report, the woman died following a severe stroke.
The woman’s relatives demanded officials at the Taif Health Affairs open an investigation to ascertain the cause of her death and hold those responsible accountable.
