JEDDAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah issued an order on Friday extending the tenure of Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan as the chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu for another four years. In another decree, the king renewed the tenure of Nizar Madani, minister of state for Foreign Affairs, for four years. The orders came into effect on Friday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Teen killed in gun mishap
TAIF: A 22-year-old unemployed Saudi man accidentally killed an 18-year-old youth at a gas station east of Taif late Thursday. According to police, the two were playing with a gun when it accidentally discharged. The man fled the scene, leaving his injured friend and gun behind. The man was later arrested at his home. Police are treating it as an accidental shooting.
Swine flu tally jumps to 285
RIYADH: The total number of swine flu cases reported in the Kingdom reached 285 with 15 new cases diagnosed on Friday. “The latest cases include six Saudis and nine expatriates. All the cases were tested and confirmed at laboratories run by the Ministry of Health,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
