JEDDAH: The government clinic opened to treat people during the Jeddah Ghair summer festival has so far treated more than 20 people, according to the director of health affairs for Jeddah, Dr. Sami Badawood. He pointed out the clinic would begin taking blood donations beginning on Thursday.
Jeddah city Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed paid a visit to the clinic, which is open from 5 p.m. to midnight, this week to assess the state of the clinic as it prepared to receive patients. Badawood said health officials would also take the opportunity during the summer festival to implement health-related awareness campaigns, such as informing the public about swine flu and dengue fever.
“We are also distributing pamphlets and showing films to increase the health awareness of the national and foreign residents of the city of Jeddah,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold two lectures for youths about the negative effects of Internet at their headquarters as part of the Jeddah festival. About 200,000 visitors and local residents visited the malls, resorts and corniche area to witness a series of events lined up in the festival.
