TAIF: Summer is the season for weddings. And for Saudis it means being invited to many receptions, so many in fact that it can be easy to forget which ones they’ve been invited to. This won’t happen at a wedding by a young groom in Taif who decided to invite his friends and relative through the magic of billboard advertising. “He resorted to this idea so as not to forget anyone, especially that the city is replete with such occasions in summer,” local daily Okaz reported on Saturday. The young man commissioned a giant billboard in a busy part of town. It will be difficult for anyone to claim they weren’t aware of the wedding, especially now that the press has covered it, too.

Donkey vs. shepherd

TAIF: Consider it a tie. An Indian shepherd was hospitalized after being attacked by a donkey, but the donkey’s owner then abandoned the angry beast, near a desert at that. The incident took place in the western on the desert die of the mountains near Taif. The donkey viciously attacked an Indian shepherd who suffered bruises on his head and other parts of his body. Motives for the attack are unknown. “We have been together for more than two years. I have never seen him so angry like this before,” the shepherd said. So now an Indian shepherd recuperates and a donkey is wandering around fending for itself somewhere at the fringes of a very large desert.
