Hamas said in a press statement that the detainees included Imams, university students and Palestinian prisoners recently released from Israeli jails.
The movement added that the detentions were made in the cities of Ramallah, Qalqilyah, Hebron and Toubas, which are controlled by President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement.
Hamas and Fatah crack down against their political opponents in the territories they control; Hamas men in West Bank and Fatah people in Gaza Strip.
The arrests came three days after Fatah held in the West Bank city of Bethlehem its first convention in 20 years.
