Abha summer fest concludes

ABHA: Under the aegis of Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khaled, who is also chairman of the region’s tourist development board, Abha Annual Summer Festival at Al-Muftaha Village Theater concluded on Thursday evening. Awards and prizes were presented to the winners, including the Al-Muftaha Award for the best artistic performance.

The festival included some 200 cultural, sport, social and artistic activities at a cost of SR15 million.

The CEO of the tourist development board in Asir region, Abdullah Mataen, said that Jordan and Yemen had participated in the Abha Traditional Nights, organized during the festival which also had sound and light shows, mountain climbing, soccer, poetry evenings and closed theater shows for women.

He said the play, “Misyar.com.,” directed by Amal Hussein which featured a number of Gulf actresses, was performed at the theater of the Southern Region Welfare Society. The Washal Theatrical group, entirely composed of actresses and directed by Rana Asiri, also presented a play entitled “Mukasirat” (Dry food).

A number of Saudi personalities were honored during the function. They included: Prince Abdullah bin Miteb bin Abdullah for his equestrian achievements, Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimin, famous Saudi radio announcer Ghalib Kamil, Dr. Salwa Al-Hazzaa, Dr. Zuhair Al-Hilais, Dr. Saud Al-Musaibih and others, including a number of media personalities.
