JEDDAH: The Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) has urged Pakistan government to resume the repatriation of stranded Pakistanis languishing in Bangladeshi camps for over three decades. In a letter to Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Farooq Sattar, who was on a visit to Jeddah recently, the PRC called on Islamabad to reactivate the Rabita Trust and take up the issue with Bangladesh.
It lamented that while over a million Bangladeshis were living in Karachi, the quarter of a million Pakistanis were left to live in squalid camps in an alien country. The letter also urged the government to consider the PRC self-finance proposal that envisages the repatriation and rehabilitation of the stranded people without financially burdening the government of Pakistan.
