Western Union Sunday Trio League set for championship round

JEDDAH: My Angel preserved its place as the waiting No. 1 finalist while Jologs and Kulisap ni Moe finished 1-2 in the final week of eliminations to improve one notch to third and fourth in the top five rankings in the Western Union Sunday Trio Bowling League at the Bowling City in Sultana Mall here.

My Angel led the field with a 10-week total of 18,555 after compiling 1,811 pinfalls thanks to Ljay Laderas 610, Nap Patayan 596, Manny Laguardia 196-218 and Tommy de Castro 183.

Kuya Big Bro, in third at the start of the session, barely made the championship round matches as a result of strong performances by Jologs and Kulisap ni Moe, which owned the leading totals of 2,078 and 1,992.

Ed Sardinia was the top man at Jologs with 677. The rest of the output came from two-game contributions of 241-214 by Jhun Henoguin, 202-246 by Rommel Marasigan and 219-227 by Faisal Relativo.

Kulisap ni Moe received a big lift from Sid Sagun who rolled the second highest series of the night at 710. Nonie Yap added 633 while Zaldy Parinas and Andy Yumena made 196-226 and 219.

Dr. Garout was also untouched at second place, hitting 1,815 pinfalls on the night on the strength of 638 and 606 by Ahmed Trigano and Osama Fatani as well as 162-198 by Badr Bajar, and a pair of 181s by Kamal Banjar.

The first match of the championship round will pit Dr. Garout against Kuya Big Bro and Jologs and against Kulisap ni Moe. The winners in these matchups then knock each other out for the right to challenge My Angel in a twice to beat match format for the title.

The host team, Bowling City, missed the next round and settled for sixth position after hitting total pinfalls of 1,901 while FTBJ, with a 1,856 total on the night, took the seventh place in the order of rankings for those which did not qualify for the championship.

Jem Strikers had 1,863 to be on eighth place followed by Luvenor 1,964, Rapid Fire 1,773, Tsuname 1,946, Western Union 1,725 and Filsama/Carlos Sport 1,680.
