RIYADH: Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF) has appointed John Sfakianakis as its chief economist.
Sfakianakis, formerly chief economist at SABB (Saudi British Bank), has joined its management team and will also serve in various management committees as a group general manager.
Sfakianakis has served as SABB’s chief economist in Riyadh. He published reports frequently on Saudi economic and trade issues and also the first business confidence index report by a Saudi-based bank. He regularly contributes articles for the international and local press and is a frequent commentator.
Prior to joining SABB, Sfakianakis was the chief regional economist for Samba Financial Group. He also worked for the United National Development Program (UNDP) seconded at the Ministry of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia where he served as part of the 8th planning team for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Sfakianakis worked as a senior financial adviser to the Gulf Research Center (GRC) and continues to be member of its editorial board. He has also worked for The World Bank in Washington D.C. in the Middle East, and East Asia departments.
Sfakianakis studied at London and Harvard universities. He is recognized in the region and beyond for his balanced views on economic developments.
