ISLAMABAD: Pakistani police arrested 30 suspected members of the outlawed Hizbu Tahrir (HT) group on Saturday, police said.
The arrests were made after security officers raided a house in the capital following a tip-off, a police officer told Arab News on condition of anonymity.
“They were holding a secret meeting in the house,” the officer said. Some literature belonging to the group was recovered from the house but no arms were found, he added.
Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf banned the London-based group several years ago.
Hizbu Tahrir was on a list of suspect organizations which India has provided to Pakistan after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in November last year.
