RIYADH: Police have arrested several men suspected of being involved in a number of thefts.

In one incident, police arrested three people accused of stealing a car and using it to commit crimes. Police were alerted after receiving reports of a suspected stolen white jeep in the Al-Badeieya neighborhood.

They launched a massive search for the vehicle after thieves used it to steal from a shop.

In another incident, police stopped a group of people suspected of transferring stolen wood from a pickup truck and emptying it into another van. When officers asked them about their activities, they claimed the owner of the wood knew them. When it emerged the goods were indeed stolen, one of the suspects tried to bribe the police officer. He was arrested and handed over to the police station for further investigation.

In a third case, Riyadh police arrested a suspect who snatched SR3,500 from a pedestrian and escaped on foot. Police eventually arrested a man matching the suspect’s description.
