JEDDAH: A Yemeni expatriate caught supplying fake drugs was sentenced to three months in prison and 50 lashes. The Jeddah Summary Court also ordered his deportation.
Court sources said the unidentified Yemeni was selling the pills to addicts in various residential quarters south of Jeddah. They said he was caught with over 2,000 tablets ready for distribution. He told investigators the pills were fake and he was only conning the addicts, they added. The lab results revealed the tablets were ordinary medical pills.
The Prosecution and Investigation Commission asked the court not to take the fake pills into account and to hold him responsible for trafficking.
