ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Sayed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who spent seven years in jail on account of giving jobs to men from his constituency during his tenure as the speaker of the National Assembly from 1993 to 1996 by the National Accountability Bureau and was later exonerated by of all charges by Islamabad High Court after he took over the slot of chief executive of Pakistan, confidently announced here Thursday: ”I will resign if proven that my wife took relief from National Reconciliation Ordinance.
He said neither he nor his wife were beneficiaries of the NRO and that it if it were proved that they were, he would hand in his resignation.
He said that a list of NRO beneficiaries has appeared in some newspapers where his wife’s name was mentioned.
Referring to his recent contact with US President Barack Obama, he said there was nothing like “do more” mentioned in Obama’s letter.
