RIYADH: The Coca-Cola Company presented a check of SR513,000 to Prince Faisal bin Salman, chairman of Ensan (Charity Committee for Orphans Care), at an event held to celebrate the completion of a Coca-Cola initiative which ran throughout Ramadan.
Part of the proceeds from sales of Coca-Cola family-size drink packs during Ramadan were put aside to be donated to Ensan to help orphans.
The Coca-Cola initiative is in its second year and in line with the Open Happiness (Eftah Tefrah) campaign, which is dedicated to bringing happiness, positivity and optimism into the lives of orphans and Coca-Cola fans.
In 2008, the initiative raised SR475,000 for Ensan. As part of this initiative in 2009, Coca-Cola invited Ensan children to paint or draw a picture, which depicts their feelings of happiness and Ramadan.
Many of the children participated and the winning entries will be made into a calendar, which will be distributed by Coca-Cola and Ensan across the Kingdom.
“We would like to thank Coca-Cola for supporting the Ensan organization and helping us to achieve our aim of providing care and support to orphans and their families,” said Prince Salman.
Abdullah Al-Arrah, representative of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Saudi Arabia, said: “We are committed to support the local community.”
