JEDDAH: The official death toll from the Nov. 25 flash flooding in Jeddah has increased to 120 with the discovery of a body that had been swept into the Red Sea.

Civil Defense sources said a well-known Greek expert would be helping to identify the decomposed body. The sources added that the number of missing has come down to 43 after five listed men turned up alive: Four of them had gone to a village outside Jeddah and returned after finding their names in the list of the missing in local newspapers while the fifth man was found in south Jeddah.

Brig. Muhammad Al-Qarni, spokesman of Civil Defense and director of the disaster management, said that human limbs have been found in the flooded areas during search and recovery operations. Efforts are being made to determine whether the body parts belonged to people who died in the floods.

Al-Qarni called on the relatives of missing people to go to the Department of Health Affairs to help identify bodies and possibly provide DNA
