SABB Amanah EasyBuy grabs lead in Interbank bowling tournament

RIYADH: It was another rewarding week for SABB Amanah EasyBuy team as it booked a third consecutive Team of the Week award during the 20th session of the Interbank Tenpin Bowling Tournament at the Riyadh InterContinental lanes.

Sustaining momentum, SABB Amanah EasyBuy overpowered league leader Saudi Hollandi Bank 367-160 to dislodge them from the No. 1 spot in the team standings.

EasyBuy’s five-man team was determined to win the match even after absorbing defeat in the first game. The second game was very close with EasyBuy winning by a small margin of 5 pinfalls. Ruel Barrayoga was at his best, carding a four-game series of 783 followed by captain Francis Guron (765), Jerry Austria (756), Jaffer Al Kathiri (739) and Arnold Jesena (726). SHB slid to the third spot after the match.

Sister team SABB Securities Ltd also played excellent bowling nearly blanking Saudi Investment Bank 340-130.

Eden Bergonio was at the top of his game to erase the league record for high series with handicap and clinched the Bowler of the Week award at a four-game series of 866. Backing up Bergonio were Luis Bonguit who rolled 758, Romy Guron (739), captain Nelson Complido (694) and Ramil Espiritu (692). SAIB remained in sixth position after the match.

Defending champion Banque Saudi Fransi blanked SABB Premier team 260-0 to retain the second spot in the standings. BSF took advantage of their opponent’s three-man team but was not able to score high to regain the lead. The top scorer at BSF was Noel Morales who tallied a four-game series of 777. He was assisted by AJ Bonifacio (713), captain Jun Bantug (701) and Jess Bersamin (683). Jerry Villanueva and Edwin Timango rolled 375 and 346 in two games.

PNB Unified Team tied SABB Securities Ltd for the second highest score of the week when it blanked SABB Credit Cards 340-0. Allan dela Rosa was the highest scorer at PNB with 773 followed by Mixi Lechuga (715), and Jun Evangelista (688).Gabby Javier tallied 518 in three games while Ben Torrefiel had 199 in one game.

ANB-SAMA and handicap-rich Alinma Bank battled to a 130-all draw while Bank Albilad, playing bye this week, managed to score only 50 points.
