JEDDAH: An injury time goal by enabled Al-Shabab to escape with a 2-2 draw against plucky Al-Fateh at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd stadium in Riyadh, in round 16 of the Saudi professional league.
In fact, Shabab were lucky to gain a point as they trailed their opponents 1-2 for most of the match before Faisal Al-Sultan got the equalizer at the fag end of the match.
Al-Fateh embarrassed Shabab in front of their fans and now trails Al-Hilal by three points.
Shabab remained second in the standing with 35 points, while Al-Fateh is seventh with 18 points.
At the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium in Jeddah, Ittihad crushed Al-Hazem 5-2 in a one-sided match. Ittihad strengthened is now in the third place with 29 points and has two pending matches.
Al-Hazem is eighth in on the league table with 16 points. In Alkhobar, Al-Nasr defeated Qadesiya 2-0 with Muhammad Al-Sahlawi scoring in the 24th and 52nd minutes of the match.
Nasr jumped to the fourth position with 21 points with three pending matches. Qadesiya is at the bottom with 11 points.
Three matches are scheduled for today. In Riyadh, Hilal will host Al-Ahli in a crucial encounter. Hilal will go for the kill, as a win will increase the gap with Shabab to six points.
Ahli will look to continue their winning run and try to displace Nasr who is in fourth spot. Hilal is on top with 38 points and Ahli is sixth with 20 points.
Ittifaq will host Al-Raid in Dammam. Ittifaq is ninth with 13 points and Al-Raid is 11th in the standing with seven points. Najran will host Al-Wehda in the last match of the day. Najran are at the bottom with seven points while Wehda is fifth with 20 points.
