10 illegal houses demolished
MAKKAH: The Makkah municipality leveled 10 houses built illegally by expatriates on the top of a mountain in the Al-Wadeenah district on Thursday. Earlier, plans to demolish the illegal houses did not succeed because there was no proper road to that place. Bulldozers cannot travel by the mountain path used by the people living there. Finally, the municipality sent a team of 20 laborers on foot. They dismantled the houses and evicted the people who were living there. Police accompanying the team tackled some of the house owners who resisted the demolitions. Ahmad Munshi, chairman of the Al-Mabed branch of the municipality, said any more construction of buildings without municipality’s permission would not be allowed.
