DAMMAM: The 2010 JF Knockout Charity Cricket Tournament at DCA grounds successfully ended with Corniche Blue winning the title. Twelve teams from Dammam, Al Khobar and Jubail participated.
JF organizers conducted this tournament for the fourth successive year with the aim to promote the game of cricket and instill camaraderie among members of the community.
In the final, Corniche Blue defeated NGC Jubail by three runs. Corniche Blue batted first scoring 65 runs in their allotted six overs. Sachin scored 15 runs and Kaizer scored 22 with three sixes.
On chase NGC lost both the openers on the score of one run. Subsequently, middle order batsmen Anis and Nawaz resisted further collapse and batted steadily till the final over to get six runs.
NGC got only three runs and lost the JF Champion Cup match.
Anis scored 41 runs.
Prior to finals on the same day, Corniche Blue defeated Crescent Cricket by six wickets in the first semifinal. NGC Jubail triumphed over Ameco cricketers with a margin of 20 runs in the other semifinal match..
After the final match, prizes were awarded to the champions, runners-up and outstanding players by the chief guest and sponsor Ghulam Shuja of MGA Trading and Shareef Sultan of Saudi Diesel Equipment.
Shuja and Sultan praised and commended the JF organizers for their efforts in organizing the sporting events for the benefit of the community.
Also, Mohammed Ansary of Al Markab Internationals in his brief speech assured his support for such charitable sporting events.
Mahmood Saad, president of JF, presented mementos to the sponsors and active members of JF.
