JEDDAH: The latest Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF) is to be broadcast live for the first time on the Internet.
Viewers will be able to watch the whole event and communicate with the forum. The JEF is to be held at the Jeddah Hilton from Feb. 13-16. This was announced by Abdulaziz Saqer, chairman of the Gulf Research Center, at a press conference on Monday.
The center has organized the forum with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI). The press conference followed the signing of a sponsorship contract with the Adheeb Communications Company, which will transmit the forum live on the web.
Saqer said this year’s JEF would use more specialized personalities as speakers rather than public figures, as was the case in the past.
“This is aimed at giving the forum a more specialized nature,” he explained.
Saqer said over 1,200 individuals, at least half of them officials and businesspeople, would participate in the forum. He added that there would be 37 speakers, including Saudi officials from the economic, finance and oil sectors in addition to internationally known economic and financial figures.
Saqer said if his center was asked to organize the next forum it would focus on international economic organizations and their relationship with the Kingdom.
Adheeb CEO Ahmad Abbas Sindi said his company’s sponsorship of the forum would include the provision of the most modern communications equipment and fast Internet service with fourth generation technology.
He said the forum would cover nine themes relating to economic, financial, educational, health, energy and food security issues.
