DUBAI: Emirates has confirmed that its Mumbai-Dubai flight EK 505 was grounded Sunday morning by Mumbai’s Air Traffic Control minutes before departure.
The flight was on the taxi-way when an anonymous caller alleged that two passengers were members of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Mumbai Airport spokesman told Arab News over phone.
He said the flight, with 356 passengers on board, was delayed for around four hours as full security procedures were activated including the deplaning of all passengers and a thorough screening of the aircraft, passengers and baggage.
“A male passenger and his wife have been handed over to the local police for questioning,” said an Emirates spokesman in Dubai.
After clearance from the ATC, the aircraft departed Mumbai.
