He claimed in a report published in Al-Madinah newspaper that his mother and sister had looked after her well. He added that after the murder, they found a foul-smelling bag in the maid’s room containing his sister’s clothes.
He also found small pieces of paper containing strange writings in it. He asked a local sheikh to see the bag, who confirmed that it was a form of black magic.
The murder that shocked Makkah happened last month in the Khalediya neighborhood.
The maid, who is in her 30s, used a kitchen knife to stab her 60-year-old sponsor while she was praying. She then escaped from the apartment.
The mother managed to call her daughter, who had left for work. When she rushed home she saw her mother lying dead in a pool of blood.
The maid surrendered to officers at the Al-Mansour police station and authenticated her confession at a Makkah court on Jan. 13.
“The maid was refusing to pray despite my mother advising her to do so. She also refused to go to the Grand Mosque to perform Umrah. She was dirty and refused to shower,” the son said.
He said days before the murder his sister was having nightmares and started reading the Qur’an as a result. The maid would apparently get angry whenever she heard verses being recited.
“We have had maids before from the same country and they were all good and respectful,” he said.
He added that investigations had revealed the maid had not been physically tortured as she claimed.
“I have to admit that my mother shouted at her only when she failed to take care of her grandchildren. One of them once ran toward the street. My mother shouted at her to run after him before a car hit him. It is only in these cases that my mother loses control of her temper but she never abused her physically,” the son said.
He claimed that his sister paid the maid’s medical expenses when she broke her leg.
“She was on vacation for two months and my sister brought another maid to help the family. If she was treated badly as she claimed, then she should have escaped or at least called for help.”
