Five of the names appear in Israeli telephone directories.
Australia's foreign minister said two other names belong to Australians living in Israel. An eighth name, Roy Cannon, matches that of a man who immigrated to Israel from Britain in 1979.
Cannon's son Raphael Cannon told the AP on Thursday that his father's genuine passport is in his possession and the one used in Dubai bears a photograph of someone else.
Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement in the killing.
