Matiur Rahman, an official of Al-Jeel, the organizers of the annual real estate event, said it was too early to report on the total amount of deals signed at the JIREX 2010. But the eighth edition of the exhibition was broadly successful as individual buyers and investors showed keen interest in the plots and properties on display.
Global Real Estate Company (GRC), which represents the GRE of Britain, was one such beneficiary of the exhibition. Out of 41 plots in Marlow near London that it displayed 30 were sold during the exhibition. Andrew Lock Dipsur, director of GRE, described it as "good performance," saying, "We have lots of work to do after this exhibition as a result of the lead from here."
He said his stall, which was judged the best by the organizers, had visitors from Riyadh as well. "We also had some very good inquiries for property portfolios. We buy property on behalf of our clients who want to invest in real estate and make profit."
Hasan Sunbol, CEO of GRC, was enthusiastic. "Despite low attendance, we have done better than in previous years because of the quality of land we are offering and reputation that we have in the market. Our customer base in Saudi Arabia has increased from 50 to 500 in three years," he claimed.
Yemen's Enma Company, owned by Saudi businessman Hossain Al-Hammami, participated in JIREX for the third time in a row. Al-Hammami was happy about the inquiries that he received from the visitors, specially about the mega shopping complex to be built in Aden. Enma has so far completed six residential projects in Aden. Al-Hammami said the main purpose of coming to JIREX was to reach out to the Yemeni community in Jeddah and those Saudis who want to invest in Yemen. "It's worth coming. It has served my purpose well," he said.
