Faisal bin Muammar, the secretary-general of the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue, which organized the event, opened the dialogue in Najran attended by 70 delegates from across the Kingdom. Muammar is also deputy education minister.
The speakers in the first session suggested the formation of committees to gauge the level of health service in each province and monitor the activities of health institutions. They also demanded steps to boost people's confidence in primary health centers. They discussed issues related to health administration, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.
The session, chaired by Abdullah bin Umar Nasif, also discussed the geographical distribution of health services in terms of quantity and quality.
The speakers demanded the collection of detailed information on healthcare throughout the Kingdom as well as advancing the quality of health services in all provinces and cutting the cost of treatment.
They also pointed out the need to relieve the pressure on city hospitals by ensuring quality service in all provinces and improving small hospitals by providing them with more qualified medical staff.
The participants, however, agreed that the Kingdom made considerable advancements in the medical field by establishing world-class hospitals and called on medical centers to put more efforts into research studies.
