Saudi footballer heads to Cape Town for Red Bull Street Style 2010

A native of Makkah and a student at Faqih secondary school, Faairaq will compete with freestyle footballers from more than 56 countries. The finals will be held alongside the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Fairaq was crowned Saudi champion after winning the Red Bull free street style final held in Jeddah. His stunning performance and skills in ball control attracted the attention of the judges committee. The new sensation of Saudi sport dazzled international Dutch player Edgar Davis who along with Saudi national team star and Al-Ittihad player Naif Al-Hazzazi had a word of praise for Fairaq's skills. Davis will chair the committee.
"My selection makes me proud, more so because by representing my country I will be its unofficial ambassador," Fairaq told the media over the weekend.
The World Finals will bring together the best free street style footballers on the globe during their expected encounter in the qualifying rounds, which will be held on April 26-27. The winners will qualify for the final round, which will be held on April 28 among the best 16 players.
Over 200 qualifying tournaments featuring more than 5,000 would-be champions joined the competition, in addition to 9 qualifying rounds held in Saudi Arabia in which more than 350 players participated. Many qualifying rounds were also held in other Arab countries including Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE and Algeria.
The Event will take place in front of the seventeenth-century Castle of Good Hope, South Africa's oldest surviving building, in the shadow of the iconic Table Mountain and just a stone's throw from the Cape Town Stadium that will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
