Hussein Baaqeel?, ?chairman of the Jeddah Municipal Council?, ?said the council is to hold a meeting to discuss the building collapse in which six children died and several others were injured last Friday?.?
He added that the council had taken all necessary actions with regards to the property?.?
?"?Some of these old buildings are unfit for people to live in?. ?It is their owners?' ?responsibility to take the necessary measures to fix or renovate them?. ?This is an important matter?, ?especially when peoples lives are at stake?, ?especially children?," ?said Baaqeel?.?
He added that if Jeddah municipality had adopted the measures suggested by the Jeddah Municipal Council?, ?then the owners of buildings such as this one would be forced to demolish them?.?
