The event was organized by Soorya Sargam in association with the Consulate General of India to commemorate the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the Kingdom. "Unity in diversity is the strength of India and every Indian should proudly uphold this reality wherever they live," the consul general said.
He praised Krishnamoorthy, the chief of Soorya Cultural Society, and his team for their efforts to promote Indian culture and heritage all over the world by presenting Indian art forms in different countries in a professional and impressive manner. In his keynote speech, Krishnamoorthy urged the Indian government to encourage and honor maestros of traditional art forms, who present the country's refined and genuine culture.
"Good cinemas never get the deserving encouragement. No human being seems to dare to react against injustice happening in front of them. The dreams we see while we sleep help only to ease the sleep. It is time to wake up and see dreams. The dreams we see while we are awake keep us ready to fight injustice," the Soorya chief said.
Consul for Community Welfare K.K. Vijayan and Soorya's chief global coordinator Rafeek Younus also spoke. Soorya artists — Attukal Bala Subramaniom (violin), Jijth (keyboard), Malamary Sasi (drum), Jayan (tabala) and Alapuzha Karunamoorthy (thavil) and Madhu Gopinath — enthralled the audience with their performances.
Event coordinator Sreejith Kumar welcomed the audience and R. Prasanna Kumar, convener of Soorya Sargam, gave a vote of thanks. Suja Sethu was the anchor.
