Head of Taif Health Affairs Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah said the case would be investigated.
Official spokesman for Taif Health Affairs Saeed Al-Zahrani added that his department’s policy states that when a body is admitted to a hospital, all belongings should be collected and registered and put in a safe for the family to claim.
Al-Zahrani said that the results of the internal investigation would be announced when it was concluded. He said that police and the local courts would then review the case.
Relatives of the dead woman told a local daily that they received a call from the hospital informing them that criminal motives were behind her death.
When a family member visited the body, he noticed marks around her wrist. He then returned to the morgue with police officers and told them the wounds were the result of someone forcing off her jewelry.
After a police investigation, two Bangladeshi workers were arrested and the jewelry was returned to the family.
