Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman launched the campaign on Monday, which is also aimed at creating awareness among people on the hazards of renal diseases.
Prince Salman donated SR2 million to the fund on behalf of his family. The donations were extended by 35 individuals and organizations. Prince Salman, who is also the president of the society, initiated the fund raising campaign through the Kingdom’s three mobile operators STC, Mobily and Zain.
He said funds collected would help renal patients who have reached the end stage of renal disease (ESRD) to get regular treatment through dialysis machines.
Yahya Muhammad Binladin of the Binladin Group gave the largest donation of SR5 million while Samba Financial Group, Al-Zamail Group, Al-Jomaih Charitable Foundation, Ibrahim Al-Subaie, Mobily, Baghlaf Al-Zafer Holding Group and Abdul Aziz Al-Shuwaier donated SR1 million each.
