Israeli media said that after the demolition of a cabin and the foundation of another structure the forces were attacked by 150 occupiers who tried to block their exit.
The report added that occupiers hurled blocks, light bulbs, paint grenades and stones at the forces and attempted to puncture the tires of military vehicles. The forces in turn began spraying the teenagers with tear gas. Four settlers were arrested for assaulting officers.
According to the report, the forces arrived at the settlement to enforce the Israeli government's decision to freeze constriction in settlements for 10 months. Police sources described the incident as extremely violent and noted that the occupiers tried to release the detainees by force.
National Union Party KM Michael Ben Ari claimed that officers were the ones exercising violence during house razings.
"(Israeli Defense Minister Ehud) Barak sends soldiers with paintball guns to fight terrorists and arms special patrol forces with batons and gas to beat settlers," Ben Ari said in reference to the May 31 clashes between Israeli forces and the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in international waters off the coast of Gaza that killed nine activists.
The issue of West Bank and East Jerusalem settlements is one of the thorniest points of contention that has stymied the resumption of direct peace talks between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel.
The PA and Israel have started US-presided proximity talks in May, facilitated by the US Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who has been shuttling between the two sides since the talks kicked off in May.
Meanwhile, chief Palestinian negotiator Sa'eb Erekat said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will urge US President Barack Obama to take serious moves to end the Israeli occupation when they meet in Washington on Wednesday.
Erekat told the official Voice of Palestine radio that "having an independent state on the lands occupied in 1967 is the key to the solution of Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
He added that the Abbas will discuss with Obama the "disastrous attack by Israeli forces" on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
Erekat said that after talks with Obama, the Palestinian president will fly to Spain and then to France for talks with leaders of the two European countries, adding that his trip will include Egypt and Jordan.
